☀️ Move Forward

How to Find Fulfillment and Move Forward

Greetings!

We hope our Florida and North Carolina friends are doing ok after the recent hurricane and tropical storm activity. Our family is safe, and that is what matters - water damage can be fixed 😃.

So, we were driving around the Appalachian State campus the other day, and our conversation drifted to our "regrets" about past decisions and how we wish we had had different experiences in College.

But, as we hopefully all know by now, regrets should be firmly secured in the past - close the 🚪 door on things we can't control! We should embrace moving forward and creating new, rewarding experiences.

When I decided to get my Master's Degree at the University of Florida, part of me absolutely wanted to create a new experience and legacy for myself (my time spent at the University of Akron 40+ years ago 🍺 🍻 was less than stellar, lol).

Shari expressed regrets about her past decisions, but after talking, I think she is more excited than ever to move forward and learn new things. Do more of what you enjoy!

Remember, it is unhealthy to live in the past, constantly saying, "I wish I had…" or "I should have…" - do something about it! Modify your goals to fit your lifestyle today, but go for it! We applaud you in advance! 👏 👏

Choose the right adventure level: Tailor your trip to match your fitness level and personal preferences. Whether it's a gentle bike ride or a challenging hike, find enjoyable and manageable activities.

Travel insurance is necessary: No matter the destination, ensure adequate travel insurance to cover any unexpected health issues, especially on more physically demanding trips.

Pack wisely: Lightweight gear, comfortable shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing are essential. Ensure your packing list includes all the necessary items to keep you comfortable during active adventures.

Find senior-friendly tours: Many tour operators offer adventure packages designed with retirees in mind, offering both physical and age-appropriate challenges. Don't hesitate to ask for discounts or perks for older travelers.

SIMPLI SHARI 🩷

In retirement, there’s often a desire to start fresh. My husband embraced this by returning to college to earn his master’s degree. While I sometimes think about going back to school for a degree, it’s not really what I want anymore.

Instead, I’m considering taking classes in something fun, like photography, video, social media, or marketing - something I’d genuinely enjoy at this stage in my life. Retirement isn’t just about slowing down; it can also be an opportunity to explore new interests or even embark on a new path that you hadn’t considered before.

As we age, we often gain clarity about what truly makes us happy and what we might have done differently. What new passions or interests would you pursue if you had the chance?
